Here l offer monthly favourites of products, self-help tools, socials, food/drink and yoga poses as an insight into how I use ayurveda, yoga and other tools for my own wellbeing. Enjoy!
Rosehip Oil
If you're anything like me, I've spent years trying to find the right moisturiser for my face
Rosehip oil's properties are light, hydrating, absorbable, scar reducing properties; bliss for vata skin.
If your skin tends to be combination or dry, especially in the winter, rosehip oil is the one for you.
"Responding and not Reacting"
In a world that is more demanding than ever, where we don't make space to think and reflect, it is so easy to react rather than respond. This quote brings the awareness of how important it is to reflect an authentic you to the world; the person that hasn't been affected by their environment and chooses to flow through life with presence and awareness of self.
This can be a really powerful self-help tool. The next time you feel yourself being taken over by emotion, take a moment and ask yourself if you choose to respond or react to the situation.
A real talking 'wellness novice' discusses her journey to wellness through her exploration of wholesome eating, mental health, yoga, wellbeing products and a whole lot more. This blog has some great advice, recipes and honest accounts of what it is to be human. I love it!
Coriander Water The sun finally came out to play at the end of June!
An ayurvedic favourite to keeping cool during the summer months is to drink coriander water in the morning. Coriander seeds have a cooling effect on the body, drawing heat (excess pitta) out through the urinary tract.
Here's how to make your own:
- Crush 3 tsp of coriander seeds with pestle & mortar or back of a spoon
- Add to a glass & top with water, cover with kitchen towel and leave overnight
- In the morning sieve the water into another glass to remove seeds
- Drink on an empty stomach 20 minutes before eating breakfast.
Firefly
My favourite yoga pose of the month is Tittibhasana, firefly.
It's always fun attempting more challenging poses that really make you think and connect with your body. Firefly allows you to really break down and understand each part of the body necessary to perform the asana. I find that a lot more fulfilling than just the aesthetic of a pose.
Firefly taps into vata nature. Light, airy and free. Why not challenge yourself and give it a go!
