December Favourites

Doesn't December come and go in the blink of an eye!? Apart from during the summer period, December is probably our most busiest month despite nature showing us that we should be slowing down and looking in. As a solstice month, times may have been challenging for some, whilst others were waiting for light to begin to prevail darkness.

These are they ways I navigated through December.

Lavender Oil

Inducing a sense of calm and relaxation, lavender is a great product to use at a time of year where there is a lot of energy around. Parties, families, overcrowded spaces, December can be an overwhelming month for many reasons.

Rub the oil into your hands, place in front of your face and take a few deep breaths to unwind.

Boundaries do not make you a bad person!

Choosing your own well-being does not make you a bad person.

Speaking up for what you feel is right does not make you a bad person.

Saying no does not make you a bad person.

Jeopardising our well-being for the approval, love, respect of others can come all to easy to some of us. That's ok. We have all been in situations where setting boundaries are uncomfortable and bring up feelings of guilt and shame. That's ok too.  We are all navigating our way back to our true selves; away from our current environment, our upbringing and relationships, past and present.  This requires kindness, compassion and boundaries!

For more information on boundaries, I would highly recommend following The Holistic Psychologist.

ReWilding Podcast

Curated by Ella-Grace Denton, ReWilding explores spirituality and reconnecting back the wild womxn, one who has shed her conditioning. With an array of topics such as sobriety, the dark feminine and unconscious coupling, each podcast evokes deeper thought about ones own position in the world, how we can heal as a collect and have the power to overcome.

Lemon Water

We hear about how slices of lemon in water is healthy for us, but do any of us know what does that actually means and why we do it?

In ayurveda, lemon stimulates agni (the digestive dire) and has heating properties. When we are suffering from vata (air) or kapha (earth) imbalances such as cold hands and feet, sinus issues or a cold, we can introduce pitta (fire) inducing elements into our diet and lifestyle to stimulate heat and increase circulation and therefore remove stagnation.

Lemon is an easy accessible item to increase your pitta at this chilly time of year. Adding a few slices of lemon to room temperature water in the morning can boost our digestion as well as stimulating heat throughout the body.

Supine Twists

Twisting is all about releasing, getting deep into those hidden spots in order to bring them to the surface.

A perfect pose for releasing and reflecting, ending the year with clarity and gratitude.
