June has been an intense month. The sun was at it's highest power on the solstice, Covid-19 continued to change our lives and our eyes were fully open to the injustices that many people face on a daily basis.
To help me feel grounded and balanced, these were the ways I took care of myself throughout June :
Wild
I've spent the best part of 10 years experimenting with natural deodorants. It's been a long journey searching for something that actually works, so when I came across Wild and it's claim to be effective and sustainable I though I'd give it a go. So far so good, it seems to do the job, has a really nice scent and doesn't leave residue. If you're looking for an aluminium free alternative I'd definitely give Wild a go.
Creating Space
I've found this month difficult. A lot of heartbreaking events have unfolded and I've felt very overwhelmed, helpless, confused and distressed.
At this pivotal time, the best self-help tool I found for myself was to take time away from my phone and stop filling my head with the overload of information out there. I reminded myself to breathe, to ground and create space in my head, heart and surroundings.
This Last Moment
Anna's vlogs have been a tonic during this intense month. Taking you through her week with beautiful visuals, I guarantee they will leave you feeling calm, peaceful and relaxed.
Smoothies
During the warmer months smoothies can be a great way of getting additional nutrients in the body. I fill mine with hemp, chia and flax seeds for omega 3's, spirulina for protein and maca for hormone balance. I drink mine alongside a cup of tea to keep my digestive fire active.
I blend:
1 banana
A handful of mixed berries
A handful of spinach
1tsp of spirulina and maca powder
1tsp of hemp, chia and flax seeds
Water
My online yoga membership theme for June was 'The Elements'. We learnt that we can embody different elements throughout the seasons to create balance and harmony in our body.
With the warm weather, I loved keeping cool and embodying water to counteract the heat outside. Slow, fluid restorative flows benefitted me the most.
